another night

Door slams

Hearing a stumble

I open my door

Peer down the stairs

My father glimpse up

Red-blood-shot eyes

The smell of booze filters up

I slam my door shot

Screaming in my head "not again"

If only mom was here

She'd know what to do

Instead I'm alone

This man has become a stranger

No longer a father or friend

I hear a THUD then a grown

He'll eventually find the couch

I lock my door

Light off

Just another night
