Another Time Around

Accepted into college, oh the reliefApplying to all these schools, oh good grief In a car on my own, the freedom is a rushDriving with my mom, was that a curb I just “brushed”? Spending time with my friends, studying and homework are lightCrushed by the stress, I may never sleep tonight Single and happy, more time for just meSplit in the fall, it just wasn’t meant to be Swimming because I love it, somehow missing the team alreadyNearly drowning in my lane, my breathing so unsteady Sleeping in on Sunday mornings, relaxing for the dayWaking up at dawn daily, just to study and earn that A I don’t think much has changed in the past year or soNo winning the lottery, no rolling in the dough But the little things I’ve found, are the the best of allAs I look back on the memories and forward to next fall
