Are You Listening, Dad? It's Me, Emily

Daddy, it's been years since I heard your voice

But I hope you are always hearing mine

Whether it's outloud in the middle of the night

or scribbled onto some lines

I write to you because I need closure

I have so much to say

I still don't understand why

You had the die that faithful day

I didn't get to say how much I love you

or how you are my world

There is so much I would do

If I had a moment more

But time is unforgiving

The world rotates, and I keep on living

Daddy, I will always write to you

Even if you can't write back
