The Art of Vindication

Liberation,

She called it,

Discharging pet

Lovebird from the

Foreign shackles

Named commitment

No, I cried

Ever disheartened

By her plea to

Leave her lonesome

As my heart ached

For the taste

Of adventure

You taught me

To fly, how

Could you

Possibly weigh

Me so?

Alas the cage

Door bore exit

To its prisoner,

Desperate

Mourning dove

With rampant heart,

Feathered wings

Prompted her escape

Of a future lover

In the nighttime

For grieving

Heart sought yet

The warmth

Of what one

Might call

Her captor

-You were never a burden
