On Auditioning for a Dance Program

The world is silent and tired, having borne the weight of a thousand restless soulsand the window pane shivers as the night drags on and I feelalmost sorrybut I can see little diamonds coruscating in the darkness, constellations dancing a story older than the dirt that lifts up humanity  The trees sway and reach, glancing up toward the royal ballet conducted by the heavens, and I want nothing more than to join them,to praise the moon and exalt the stars and feeltogether The night howls and pleads, begging the earth to pirouette, but the show cannot endyet The wind pierces my skin, pushing me away from the stagebut I  feel something more The stars smile and I know I’m finally Home
