To live a life like a story
Is my dream.
But what will my story be?

I try to write my story,
But it runs away with me.
I am not the author.

I may be the main character,
But I only control so much.
The Author has control.

The Author knows what's best,
For the story, and for me.
I should let Him write.

But I am a wayward character.
I want to write the story.
I say, "It's my story!"

It may be a story of me,
But it is not mine.
A story is the Author's.

I want my story to be a good one.
On my own, I can't do that.
The Author, however, writes bestsellers.

Though He'll write the story,
It'll still star me,
And He'll make me a better character.

And in the end, the story will be
A masterpiece of the Author.
And the Author will be praised.
