Away from the Girls

Location

The boys and girls live in separate worlds. The girls in their universe and we in ours. As a child, I only had friends that were boys. Girls were some kind of alien species from another world.  We were the normal ones and they were mysterious creatures. When I ate lunch in the cafeteria, I ate on the boys’ tables. Away from the girls. When I sang in chorus, I stood on the boys’ side of the bleachers. Away from the girls. When I played on the playground, I ran on the boys’ slide. Away from the girls. When I go to the bathroom, I go in the boys’ room. Away from the girls.
