Baula (Costa Rican Spanish for Leatherback Sea Turtle)

I am a shell, holding the possibility of life
soft to touch, but strong, and yet, still vulnerable
I am an embryo,
racing to grow while being shadowed by death
I am a hatchling
flippers flapping, breathing freedom for the first time
I am a young, swimming survivor
expanding constantly in size, brains and beauty
I am the bold, the strong, and the true
I am a carefully placed piece in the puzzle of life

I am the baula
