To Be Separated

Fri, 07/08/2016 - 10:20 -- Lindzys

There is a void between parent and child

More of a treacherous rift

A raging ocean

As one is prosecuted and tried

The other is collapsing

Slowly falling under the pressure

To conform to wishes from others

The waves come crashing around

As each are shaken and beaten

Lightly hearted others observe

And think all is normal

Yet emotions flutter

The pain subsides as it is bled onto paper

Through a weary wicked pen

The vision of a tear gets no mutter

Life always presses on

Through the scribbled words

A broken story is told

Of a bond broken even more

For years to come

It may be viewed through perfect eyes

Or similar shattered eyes

Yet out of the scores of people

It brings fulfillment and joy

To an artist

A poet

One who put feelings

To paper

And morphed thoughts

Into words

A tedious process

That elicited fear of disapproval

But was strengthened by hope

And a need to connect

This poem is about:
Me
My family
