Be Who You Truly Are

Intimidation is the wall that separates her from the truth
To fit in she dresses to impress the ones who call her “lame”
What is lame anyway? It’s only a describing word, like perplexed, or shamed, but what’s in your soul?
Perseverance is the wall that separates her from the truth
Creating a mask with nooks and gadgets that will make her attractive too
Did you not know that you’re beautiful in all ways? And anyone to accept this is worthy of praise
Love is the wall that separates her from the truth
Looking for love in all the wrong places, she ended up in a noose
Tired of losing hope in what could be, she gave up on life all too soon
Waking up on the other side, she saw that life was as precious as a flower
Waking up on the other side, she saw that she just had to wait for the right hour
Breath in, breath out, breathe in, breathe out…it begins again
The life that she lived no longer will exist; new and improved she will serve from within
She learned to love herself
She learned to think of her
She created a mask that wasn’t a mask because she let it be natural
She learned to accept
She learned to smile
Today she says “Shh, no more words, let this poem inspire.”
