Beautiful

You know what's beautiful?

Your beating heart,
Even through pain.

And the blue of your blood,
When it's still in your veins.

A razor's edge
When no longer in use.

When you're still standing tall
Though you've suffered abuse.

When your eyes match the sky
Of a day ruled by sun

The hope on your lips
When a battle is won

You are beautiful.

But even when thorns
Tear 'cross your soft skin

And rose petals fall
From the pain held within

When your eyes are the clouds
Of a day plagued by rain

When depression's an ink
And your face bears the stain

When the world clips your wings
And wraps you in bars

Your memories haunt
With the tears and the scars

You are loved.
