Because I "Love" You

Do you really love me?

Do the simple words "i love you" make up for the years of torture?

Love is a thing so dangerous yet pure.

Something that I am scared to experience for sure.

My father loved my mother for 27 years,

But that does not make up for all the pain he put her through, all the tears.

I see pictures of loving familys and it is something I long for,

But that part of my life is the past and I refuse to reopen that door.

You message me every day that you miss us.

You should have thought about that when you were so mean to us.

We are finally safe from you, but my heart will never be full.

I still care for you, but my heart is so cold.

Althought you have made me feel so worthless and so sad,

I want you to know that I will always love you Dad.
