Because I Said So

Location

“Because I Said So”

It starts with Mom and Dad
“Mommy why must I go to bed?”
“Because I said so, dear.”
So then you keep questioning,
Even throw a tantrum.
Second comes your teachers.
“Mrs. Teacher, Why must I learn this?”
“Because you have to get good grades dear.”
So then you might mumble under your breath,
But you end up doing it.
Third comes your pastor.
“Pastor, why do I have to believe this?”
“Because otherwise you will go to hell dear.”
This time there isn’t a question,
You just believe out of fear for your soul.
Fourth comes the media.
“Why must I wear these fancy clothes?”
“Because you won’t be liked dear."
Fifth comes the powers that be.
“Why can’t I marry the one I love?”
“Why can’t I grow a plant?”
“Why can’t I speak against your tyranny?”
“Because I will humiliate and incarcerate you dear.”
You obey, thats all you know.
Because I said so, has taken over the minds of this generation.
Peers get ahead because they mastered the art of obedience,
You stay behind because you master the art of defiance.
Well fuck them.
I stay up late
I smoke tree
I don’t have a religion
I wear different clothes
I don’t know If I will love a man or women, but damn I will be with them
I will speak so loud against tyranny and hold signs and be crazy
and thats because I SAID SO FUCKERS!
