Because My Parents Wanted a Better Life

While I am able to work and stay here for now,

There's still some disadvantages that make me mad.

I'm not saying I deserve the world,

Neither that I should get sympathy.

Just that things should open up more for us Dream kids.

Like a constant requirement for schools and scholarships:

U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

The bold words that haunt me

Causing us to look away.

We have potential

We put in the work

We have the drive

Like everyone else around

So it's not fair that we don't qualify, because of those bolded words.

Because my parents wanted a better life.

Now I ask you,

Do you have any idea how it feels to be turned away?

To be dissapointed that you cannot apply only because of the words?

Am  I doing wrong for wanting to succeed?

Can I not want to Dream?
