Behind Doors

Location

An ever-growing space between our hearts,

a barren void that silence likes to fill.

The love of two has been broken to shards

as anger starts to creep in for the kill.

We screamed, we fought, until our throats went numb.

You took my hand and forced it to your chest.

Your heart beat hard; my fingers felt its hum.

We both knew well how worsened was this mess.

And stubbornly, we tried to carry on.

But where once you warmed my heart now felt like ice.

Believe me when I say my mind does long,

but to my heart, you no longer entice.

I take that part of me right from your hands.

I give that part to a deserving man.
