Behind the Filter

Behind the filter

Lies a face

It is a face of madness

Of love

Of caring

The face belongs to a person

A person with acne

And red hair

And sometimes dry skin

That person who lies behind the filter

Doesn’t speak loud enough

Is too passive aggressive

Doesn’t start a fight because

They know they can’t fight back

Behind the filter

Lies a girl

Who is afraid of how the world sees her

Of how she is seen by her friends

Her family

Even herself

Behind the filter

There is a beauty

A beauty some don’t notice

That beauty is patient

Behind the filter

Lies a girl

With acne

Red hair

Sometimes dry skin

And a girl who is

Too passive aggressive

That is who lies

Behind the filter
