Big Blue

I had a talk with a little girl

Who came to ask me what an ocean is

And trouble did I have

For no matter what she did not understand

It’s big and blue and many live within it

They all live differently

And come in many colors shapes and sizes

There are sharks whose hunger is never satisfied

There are dolphins who can be a bit of show offs

There are whales that are grand in everyway

There are molasses that are slow

And many others who live in the dark

And others close at bay

Many live alone and other in groups

And they all live within the great blue

Big and mysterious beautiful and scary

And with all that a single question remained

The little girl as the funniest thing

“Are we living in an ocean as well?”

I answered yes why not

There are many oceans besides those four

Earth as a whole and even space

We can all relate to one another

And that is what makes life just a little more great
