Bind my Heart

My heart it aches for unrequited lust

To bear the pain of full romance I lack

Capacity to join my soul I must

Admit my conscience has begun to crack

Mis’ry notes upon each other start to tack

Piano’s keys all piled up with dust

City after siege greedy soldiers sack

Exploding vessels waiting their to bust

Oxygen deprives the blood’s vital cell

Squeezing it for every ounce of her life

Revolts against her nature she does quell

She’s torn asunder by unending strife

My chest pierced with sharp blade’s serrated knife

Survivals odds I cannot claim to tell

In harmful marriage death takes me as wife

Oh to the Devil my soul I must sell

She’s sought me out and made me only hers

Oh has love’s binding made me at all free

To live my life her smile it deters

A broken puzzle’s no cause for liberty

My eyes have opened fin’ly I can see

In partnership so strong are the allures

Two I’s have joined in bondage to the we

Now pricked by thorns and scarred by pointed burrs
