The Bird Who Never Flies

“The Bird Who Never Flies”

written for those who never managed to let go of something they love.

She always looked at me

as something I could never be.

Her eyes are sunken

that her power has shrunken

because of my proposal to flee.

She always cared for me

though too much it often seems.

She is a bird

who gave me the world

that I never was able to see.

She always stopped me

despite the fact that there’s three.

Her cries were daggers

that pierced me, I stagger

to regain the strength to breathe.

She always hurts me

because I never could break free.

So when I gave it a try

I just couldn’t fly

because she wouldn’t let me be.
