Bleed Together

I’m going to tell you a story

But bare with me

Because it’s one I’ve heard so many times

That the chapters bleed together

A twist on a classic tale

Some of you may have heard it

About two lovers

Torn apart by those around them

We’ll start in Chapter One

They haven't met each other yet

Don't even know the other exists

But man will these next few pages

Change their lives

You see

They bump into each other at a party

Minds buzzing from the lights

And the music

Eyes shining with joy

As soon as they looked into the other’s

This is a thing we call

Love at first sight

Some don’t even think its real

But nothing has ever been more real

Than this moment

At least for these two

They talk for hours on end

Until they realize everyone is leaving

So they exchange numbers

And text all night

And all day

And the next night

And a few more

Until they see each other again

They meet at a coffee shop on the corner

Don't even eat eat what they order

Just talk

Because conversation comes so easy

We skip to Chapter Fourteen

And they've been together six months

Tonight’s their anniversary

They meet for breakfast

At that same coffee shop

And get dinner reservations down the street

They exchange gifts

And sweet words

And gentle kisses

Until one of them pulls out a key

“Move in with me”

They smile at each other

And by the next chapter they’re all settled in

They race to wake up first

And make the other breakfast in bed

They walk to the subway

Hand in hand

Call to check in during lunch breaks

Cause they can’t handle eight hours

Without hearing the other’s voice

We flip through the pages

And arrive at Chapter Twenty-six

This is where we reach our climax

But forgive me

The chapters bleed together

They’re walking down the street

Hands holding tightly to each other

As if it’s the only thing

They can grab hold of

They are walking down the street and

Forgive me

The pages bleed together

Someone yells they are disgusting

And the letters bleed together

They are shot

And the ink bleeds together

They bleed together

But at least they are together

Forgive me

The chapters bleed together

I think I skipped the introduction

See Michael met Jared at a party

Their eyes filled with joy

As soon as they looked into the other’s

This is what we call

Love at first sight

This is what we call

Love lost too soon
