Blue Raspberry

She looked at me and her eyes lit up.

It was the day after Halloween

And everyone was sorting through leftover candy.

She picked up a blue-raspberry sucker.

“I remember, on the first day of school,

You were nervous about meeting new people,

So you brought a bunch of these.

You ended up giving me three.”

I just smiled at her,

And she beamed back at me.

I blushed.

Her boyfriend was watching the whole thing.

She didn’t care.

I think he did.
