a book is not its cover

a book is not its cover,

nor the title or the colors,

its not the essays or grades,

its not the B, C, D or A,

i am not a cover,

I am not my name or my color,

I am not the essays written or my grades,

I am not deifned by the B, C, D or A's.

I am soil.

Rich and unknowning.

So many levels and grains

to create my make up of my brain.

The teacher only sees the grade,

not the tears that roll down my face,

or the kids who create fun from my cover,

the teachers dont see me hover.

They dont know my next turning chapter,

or my previous,

they dont even know my name,

they just know my grade:

a reoccuring shame.
