Brick by Brick

Location

A person often recalls

That a brick building represents a secret.

Because some people build up their walls

As a promise or personal agreement.

I, however, think of brick in a different light.

The building I create does not shut me in

But rather provides a ladder on which I can stand at a new height.

From up here, I can see where I've been

And where I want to go.

From this height I can see the world of possibility

And learn about things that I want to know

To tame my hungry curiosity.

On the roof of my brick building I never have to wonder

Why summer nights always bring thunder.
