Brighter days

Man, $1000 is great.!
School is what I can use it for.
I began to reminisce
My mother Struggling for a dollar
I'm Hustling to make my mother proud
A B honor roll
Graduating high school
Now on the deans list
Becoming successful is what I'm routing for
The hopeless days and the sleepless nights
The eviction notices on our door saying it's our last night
That's my motivation to continue to fight
No more mommy sitting on the side of the bed contemplating on how she's going to pay bills
This time I'll be the one to say mommy it's okay, I got it.
Wipe those tears, put that wallet, cash and shame away
I'm going to make it out of this struggling life so we can see the brighter days
I know It's been you who has always pushed for better
Working, seemed like it was never enough
You being a go getter
But God has been there you kept your faith
Now it's my turn to tell you "It's okay!"
I want us to live the American Dream:
where we attain our own version of success
Living stress free
Talking about bills nonchalantly
Daughter with her Bachelors Degree and PsyD at the end of her name
Counseling people for a better life
Continuing to step up her game
Remembering all of the bills you use to stress over
Now It's okay
Cause Mommy I graduated from school you'll continue to see those brighter days
