Broken Glass

Location

I walked on broken glass,

Each shard represented someone or something that caused me pain.

Physical or emotional.

Each shard was stained with a different color of my soul it took.

I walked on broken glass,

"You're fat"

another shard on the floor,

"You're gay"

another shard on the floor,

"You're not good enough",

another shard on the floor.

I walked on broken glass,

my feet were tired from walking,

my soul was tired of being cut.

I was so close to stopping but then I made a decision.

I decided to stop walking on that broken glass,

pick it up,

and forge a stain glass mirror,

I look within the mirror and I see myself.

I see the different colors of my character,

the differesnt colors of my future,

and the colors of a different world.

I no longer walk on broken glass,

nor do I hide my stained glass mirror,

each piece was meticulously put together,

I reconstructed my soul and I wear it proudly.

I am fat and I am gay,

but I am good enough.

Good enough to stop walking on that broken glass.
