Burning

Location

Burning cheeks

Warm froth on the tips of eyelids

Lips quiver and teeth clench

Tears dry on puffs of red skin

Nose yearns for air

Throat swells

Broken lenses

Nails dig into cold flesh

Cracked skin

You lean for a kiss

But are met with straw

And kindling

The fire grew

Without you

Endlessly burning

You're burning

Yet the cold consumed

And left you frigid

I fought for a while

But it seemed worthless

And hot and cold

Because I saw your tears

Melting the frost

On your splotchy skin

I felt my warmth drain

And the cold run out

I couldn't understand

So I ran away from the sun

And the frost

And you

You were burning
