Burst

Our lives are whispered secrets in the ears of strangers,
The soft blowing of a summer breeze,
The quiet understanding of a second of eye contact,
And everlasting.

Our lives are short bursts of light,
We pass too quickly.
We shine, then we fade.
Our lives are not worth wasting away.

Things will always change,
Night turns to day,
Summer to fall,
Love to hate,
But above all of this,
What are we?

We are starlight.
We are winter breezes nipping at your nose.
We are secrets whispered and promises shared.
We are nothing and we are everything.

Life is only so long and oblivion is inescapable,
But that’s okay.
Live while it lasts.
