Can I Tell You A Story?

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a heart, beating in time with itself, never knowing hurt.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a girl, seeking out adventure, wanting to see the world.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a family, hopeful and loving, waiting to see their daughter again.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of the trees, whispering and watching, smiling as time passes by.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a heart, stopping too soon, never finishing its rhythm.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a girl, who stepped outside, and wished she hadn't.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of a family, broken and crying, wanting to hold their daughter one last time.

Can I tell you a story?

The story of the trees, mourning and drooping, realizing that too little time had passed by

Hi there, I was wondering if I could use this poetry piece in one of my speech events to compete with on my Speech and Debate team. If I can, I need to cite the author of this poem properly and so I would need your name. Please let me know as soon as you can, thanks!

Of course, I don't mind.  May I ask what your topic is?

Good luck!
