Cancer, Assault and lots of phone calls... what a year!

A terrible year

That’s the least you could say

With every doctors that looked at me with sadness

To the words that suddenly came out

“You have cancer”

To the moment I had to step into a courthouse

To teling every single detail of what happened

From the time he texted me to the moment he raped me for the very last time

But that’s not all

What kept me going was the song

“The fight song”

“'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me”

This kept is what kept me strong

Finishing high school was the biggest highlight of the year

Walking across that finish line

So worth it

That moment the fight was over

I was done

Finished, until that next big jump occurred

College

Two hundred and fifty miles away

From home, from friends, and from community

But closer to a new adventure

With new friends, and new community

This year has been a living roller coaster

It has shaped me to be strong

To get through this long roller coaster
