The Captain

I could see her face

Deep in the storm clouds

Smiling at me

Saying “Come here,” but how?

I got the crew to safety

Told them to go to their wives

But I couldn’t go

Her and this ship were my life

I lost her a long time ago

Didn’t even get to say goodbye

Life lost all of its color

And I had no idea why

The crew begged me to come

But I couldn’t leave

I took a swig

And told them what I believed

“Go on,” I said

“Life is dull, I’m bored”

They looked confused

But they didn’t know

I just smiled

I did what needed to be done

I stared at her face

“Love, here I come”
