Cardigan

Wearing your cardigan means I need extra protection; I fear that the day will be bad, or that I will feel more than under the weather.

One buttoned up means I need an extra boost of reassurance.

All buttoned up means I’m trying to wrap myself in a cocoon of comfort, that I feel empty inside.

Tea means I’m trying to feel that emptiness with a temporary warmth.

Added black lipstick means I feel hopeless and tired of living, yet I’m trying to mask these feelings.

Now the buttons are cracked and ruined after sending it to the dry cleaner’s a third time.

The condition of you cardigan, my source of comfort, is deteriorating, and I’m clinging on for security but I know it’s futile.
