The Carousel

Read your history books they said

We don’t want history to repeat itself

We don’t want to make the same mistakes as the past

Isn’t that what we are doing anyways?

Like a train never leaves its tracks

We are all just stuck on a carousel

Spinning around, with no way to get off

Aren’t we just repeating everything that has already happened?

Just in different ways

We seem to be in an neverending loophole of hate

We turn on each other

You would think we had learned our lesson

They say we don’t want history to repeat itself

Yet, it seems like that is what we are doing

We can never get off of the carousel
