Caught Up In The Rapture

When we are young, the ones we call parents, the fairy tales on t.v., show us what LOVE is

As we apply it to our wishes for "The One":

Someone attractive, concrete personality, and a heart as big as ours.

No one ever tells us "Love is hard. Once to obtain, twice to maintain."

They just look at us with hopeful eyes and secretly hope we'll figure it out.

As we mature, we seek out this feeling

As our heart travels, physically & mentally we go the distance to take the risk

Thinking the first person is our everything

and for some, this is still true.

For others, it's heartbreak, a term we didn't learn in class

and the stages of this, are similar to a death.

We become shadows of our former selves,

putting on a brave face in the presence of strangers, but friends are all too

familiar with that mask..

How do we know LOVE is real?

Supposedly, we'll know it when we see it

It'll shine brighter than anything

Remind us of everything, that was always pure

and even in tough times, if it's "meant to be" in each others eyes,

will always be there, will never give up.
