Celestial Being

You are the Moon

Perfectly shaped from afar

You are the Moon,
Perfectly shaped from afar;
Up close you have craters,
Parts incomplete of your being,
Such beautiful imperfections.
How can a fraction be so whole with a faction missing, a hole?
Moon, you have craters so deep and immense yet with my love they cannot be filled...
It overflows in your seas,
Becomes lost on your being.
You are my Love personified.
You're never missing you just hide in the shadows;
Your presence is a present, forever poised
Felt in my darkest hours,
And in my joyous moments of light.
The sun outshines you,
But dear Moon it doesn't out stand you.
Moon, you are humble and honest,
You shine bright but still look me in the face.
You treat me as your equal
Never doubting, only understanding...
Your elegance raises me high in the sky,
Your grace twirls me in a waltz turned tango...
We last until the wee hours of the night
When you tuck me in to sleep,
Converse a bit with me...
Then as I drift into dreams you silently watch over me,
Guarding me.
Goodnight my Moon...
My Moon so perfect,
So perfect without me,
And still choosing to be perfect beside me.
