Changes in Our Back Pockets

Wed, 01/10/2018 - 21:09 -- Rxnpxr

It has been said that a penny found heads up on the ground is a fortune of good luck.

The rain pours while the thoughts in their heads carves out of the pavements.

They ignore the pennies in their pockets as they walk on to think about themselves,

stepping over the grounds where the blood of their ancestors spread.

Their feet does not stop at a person with a red solo cup, asking for change in the cold.

Just waving them off, telling them they have nothing

But the pennies in their pockets jingle, motioning a hand to help.

They pretend and hear nothing.

It has been said that a penny found heads up on the ground is a fortune of good luck.

The red solo cup fills on empty, with nothing to feed.

The head of the person nods politely and solemnly looks down.

They keep our frowned faces and continue to walk to the store.

Our feet does not turn back to the person with a red solo cup who ask for a change.

Our hearts grow on empty, living out in the cold air in a warm room.

They say ¨We have everything!¨ … right? Or do they not?

It has been said that money buys us happiness - they say it doesn't but it really does. Right?

The person with the red solo cup is still asking for a change or two.

But some people aren't that greedy like others who get fed on their money for satisfaction.

Their feet do stop at a person with red solo cups asking for a change or two.

And maybe, they give them their leftover change from 8 hours ago or some food and care.

The person with the red solo cup looks up at the kind person and thanks them.

Those people who do help them don't just give out changes but actually makes one.

And they do ignore the pennies in their pockets … They pay attention to the penny in the rain

The one who feels worthless & constantly gets stepped over.

They are the pennies with good luck.
