A Chemical Realm

One job is my dream,

to isolate proteins

or identify phosphenes;

I shut my eyes tight

and watch all the dancing lights

that are bursting chemicals.

Study electrons

jumping in loose bonds

accepting of photons.

The chloroplasts dance,

sing chemiosmotic chants

that are only theoretical.

Lets combine gases

keeping equal masses,

sealed tightly in glasses.

Two parts hydrogen

and one part oxygen

combine when pyrotechnical.

Kiss me, dear

and make it come clear:

acetylcholine is near.

Neurotransmission

and romantic friction

make my mind rhapsodical.

I love chemistry

as you can see.

Bliss in stoichiometry.

Thermodynamics,

or quantum mechanics.

It's all perfectly chemical.
