Childhood Memories

Location

Gun shots,screams,known as the hood

A small city where nothing goes good

Too young to notice the pressure and pain

Every day starts off with no sun just rain

Smiles, School, Mentors

"Put your heads behind your back!"

Only thing policemen were good for

Pressured to do things you don't want to

The person you have to love is only you

More drama, less hugs

More dreams, less love

We didn't always have the great life

At times we felt not all things went right

Lonely nights, more tears

Strong children, no fears

Wishing upon a star

Waking up to realize we haven't gotten far

Dad's leave, Moms struggle

Girls try to learn, Boys try to hustle

We fight, we play, and we have fun

Old man jokes make us laugh some

We sometimes had good dreams

To live in a castle and fly like angels with good wings

Big playgrounds just sand

In reality this only happened on rich land

Now take a walk in my shoes as a child

Where we rap all the time or just write lyrics down

No, for some it wasn't a struggle, just hope

The need to be loved, one day to trust

No it wasn't perfect, but it's all real

Life as a child was hard work, but we all heal
