A College Free-verse

Why can't I just stay near home for college, mom?She thinks I've back myself into a corner. Filled with fear and uncertainty. And she is afraid for me. "You need to spread your wings" she tells meBut what if I spread them too wide and hurt myself? What if while I'm soaring someone tries to shoot me down? And I have flown too far away for you to hear my cries. I am not certain about my future yet, mom. So don't be so ready to push me out of the nest.
