Colors of the Soul

Color

That was all it took

A simple pallet

Thin, once clean brushes

And a blank canvas

A new hobby

A new beginning

That was all it took

The Red covers of spiral notebooks

The Orange trees of Autumn that lined the sidewalk

The Sun's Yellow glow

My Green eyes that stared into space

A Blue lanyard that kept ahold of my keys

And a Purple pen I saved for special occassions

They mixed on the pallet in my hand

And painted over the Gray in my heart

The Gray of nervousness

The Gray of rejection

The Gray of exhaustion

The Gray of depression

With paintbrush in hand

I created new worlds

A new start

A new perspective

No longer covered in the Gray the year had painted me in

But in vibrant shades and beautiful hues of my own design

Color

That was all it took
