Concrete Heart 1-24-2014

Location

Having a heart of stone is considered an insult,

But what about having a heart of concrete?

Cold, gray, hard, rough concrete.

But what is that concrete were covered in art?

Covered by beautiful swirls, flowers, and shapes.

Covered by words of wisdom, words of love.

Something as ordinary and rarely breakable as concrete

Turned into a beautiful masterpiece.

Until the day there comes a fierce storm,

The masterpiece is washed away to a blank canvas,

And all that remains are a few cracks

That serve as a reminder of the past.

A damaged blank canvas only to be reborn

Into an even more beautiful piece than the last.
