Confide in Me

Location

There are two types of people in this world
First those who survive only by having others to confide in
Because in the moment their burdens become too heavy to bear by themselves
Like the mother who has lost a child and has another still there
She wears her scars like battle wounds
And cries to make sure she still cares
For that sweet girl whose life is fucked up beyond belief
“It’s not fair” she tells her
“You don’t deserve this life. I could have done better.”
But what she doesn’t realize is every second her eyes become wetter
She’s killing the girl who sits in front of her chewing holes in the sleeves of her wool sweater
The girl’s tears aren’t out of sympathy
They’re out of fear
But the mother is unable to hear the silent screams
Coming from the dim eyes that no longer know cheer
On the inside the girl’s thoughts begin to race
And her heart no longer has pace
Her mother looks to her but can’t detect even a single trace of her pain
She remains silent despite everything she holds inside
This girl epitomizes the other side
Those who subsist on internalized emotions
It would be an understatement to call this devotion
That the girl sit there bearing the burdens for two
But no one's to say either one has this life easy
