On cracking a sweet tooth

Goodbye my love, my once so perfect love,

No longer are you precious to me!

The ecstasy that rains down from above,

Cannot be found in your smooth body.

How many thoughts have I spent on you?

How much money and effort and sweat?

I clutched you mulishly through and through,

Thinking leaving would be harder yet.

It wasn't.

Sweet memories of you are brighter

Than the reality you present.

And with you gone, my burdens are lighter,

My thoughts are clearer, my actions are righter,

But the loss of my love, I still regret.
