A Creature Behind the Curtain
Let me take you to a place
Where a curtained creature crawls and cowers covering his face.
And if you look hard enough and stare long enough to see,
Soon you will realize this curtained creature is me.
Not me as you know it, but the me that hides
The me that I mask with insecure lies
Because prejudice and judgment are rampant in life
And to uncover this me would cause, unnecessary strife.
See this me that scurries and hides from the light
Is sensitive, sweet, and pleasantly polite.
But those traits are unwanted in a modern day man,
You must be ruthless, rude, and take advantage of everyone you can.
Or at least that is what we're taught,
And that is why I act like someone I am not.
