Curtain

Pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain,

I don't matter anyway,

If people knew, and had the choice,

They wouldn't ask for me to stay.

They'd want the empty eyes,

They'd want the meaningless smile,

They don't care what's underneath,

They don't think it's worthwhile.

Why would it be for them?

They don't know me anyway,

If they did find out the truth,

Things would never be the same.

I wouldn't be able to hide anymore,

Behind this laughing facade,

Everyone would leave me,

If they didn't... I'd be awed.

But it doesn't matter how I feel,

Because to them it would be better for all,

If I just keep hiding behind my curtain,

Scared and alone within these walls.
