The Dance

I close my eyes and take a step

Right, left, right, left

My hand placed gently, my hip grasped

My right leg traps with the other,

My mind goes to rest

Right left right right

I’m catching up with the pass,

My heart skips a beat

My love falls in place

Left right left right,

The roles are reversed,

But I follow along

It always seems to work

But then I feel it

The sound of regret

Left right left,

The song comes to an end...

A world with collision

The one I forget

The impossible happened,

The partner has left

Open in the air, dry as can be

Right, right right?

I fall down and sigh...
