From Dark To Bright

From Dark To Bright

By Wynonna L.

I used to be the wrong person,

Longing to be set free.

I had never enjoyed my precious life,

Never seen what was in front of me.

I was always locked inside my head,

With no beauty or joy to see.

I could have left my dungeon with ease,

But never bothered to find the key.

I had never seen the sky or grass,

Or heard the blue jays sing.

Never felt the summer breeze,

Or smelt the flowers in spring.

Never tasted the sweet tang

Of every single thing.

Maybe I didn’t want to,

Or maybe I was waiting for something.

The thing, it finally came this year,

Only found in my wildest dream.

It was a spark of true happiness,

A sight I had never seen, as I was always traveling upstream.

The lonely times that blinded me,

Was replaced with a team.

I had never experienced such a thing before,

But it filled my heart with a gleam.

My life has gone from dark to bright,

All because of this godsend.

If you had told me that life could get this good,

I would have told you that joy is just a trend.

Now I’m not so sure anymore,

Because I’ve finally made a friend.
