The Dawning Light

The sun’s first rays spread

Over all -- erasing shadows,

Dancing with the last touches

Of the dark.

Veins of pink and red and orange

Shoot across the inky blue

And stars blink out of sight.

The light of millennia;

Eternity in a sunrise --

Forever in every dawn.
