The day I left behind childhood
I just simply stopped and
understood
That my playtime was done
And all the things I found fun
Were now silly for I knew I should

I cast away all my worn treasures
And parted from my cherished pleasures
To a world of useful
Practical and truthful
And found out that world had strict
Measures

I longed for childish dreams to draw near
But in there place came knowledge and fear
From carefree to hard work
Though memories do lurk
Through my strengths, my future is clear
