A Day to Think

I sit among the trees looking up at the sky.

My thoughts ponder and ask the question why?

Why does it feel like I’m slowly dying?

Like I should just give up trying

To live up to others views,

Death or violence seems to always be on the news.

I live in the abyss of the mind

This place is where nothing binds.

I have only met a few people who dwell here,

Because this is a place others sometimes fear.

It brings to light the things that have gone wrong.

However this place adds something to my song.

I bring my thoughts back to this day so fair

With the gentle breeze playing with my hair.

I look to my phone for the time

Just for it to start playing a hymn

I answer to hear my mom say "come home" with no rage.

I begin to walk with a sorrowful heart back into the cage.
