Dear America

Dear America,

From the dawn of time

You’ve been destined for greatness.

You’ve always found the need

To help people without reason

Or rhyme.

These days it’s you that needs help

From the poor dreamer down the street

To the power-hungry officials in Washington

We have obstacles to beat.

This great country was founded on belief

That all men were created equal

Today, the men in that statement

Covers all citizens men, woman,

Children of any race should

Not suffer the grief

Of having to fight for their place

In this great land

America was once the land of opportunity

Now the land of special privilege.

I love you America, there

are a lot worse places to be

But I still feel the need to express my

Concern, from our foundations we observed what

Unfair principles were

From the British We learned

I’m asking us now, to lean back towards our

Hay day, and make the vision that our great leaders

Once envisioned a reality

We must learn again.

I hope it is not to late.

 Your Citizen,

Tyler E.
